MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

March 12, 2024 4 H Center

Call to Order:

Meeting was called to order at 6:03 P.M. by President Jack Winkleman.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Motion to approve the February meeting was made by Jan Weiss and seconded by Jon Gunnels, Motion carried. Minutes approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer Roy Kline gave his report. Motion was made by Ben Meyer and seconded by Dan Alldredge. Motion carried. Treasurer's report approved.

Library Committee:

Nothing new in the library.

Show Committee:

Show Person Jon Gunnels talked more about the show. We will be in the Exposition Hall this year, Brownies Tool Vendor will be there, Woodturner's. The show will be October 26 and 27, 2024 from 9A.M. to 3P.M.

Old Business:

1). A big thank you to Ben, Kathy, Jon, Jack, and Robin for taking time to represent the Club at the 2024 Tri-state Creation Care Conference.

2). Reminder that the Wetherbee seminar will April 5 and 6, starting at 8:30 A.M. and going to 4:00 P.M. each day, at Ken's Lunch will be up to you, either bring something or plan to run out for something. Standby spots are available.

3). Erv has set up a bark carving seminar with Marvin Daniels at Ken's on Wednesday May 8 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Signup sheet, 45 dollars, there are ten spots open.

Reminder:
a). Sales/trade table. A place to sell, trade, or give away tools, books, etc, you are no longer using. Wood is cherry, it has been plained and is free.
b). Tool Sharpening.
Upcoming mini seminars include:
Tonight Steve Eli- painting your choice, paint tonight's project, bring something you want help on, or paint a flower cutout supplied by Steve.
April- Kathy basswood egg critter.
May- Marvin face carving on eyes.

New Business:

1). We have once again been asked to demonstrate carving and promote the Club at the Princeton bow shoot. This will be April 20 starting at 8 A.M. Is this something we are interested in participating at? Who is willing to partipate?

2). Kathy reports that we have an opprrtunity to promote the Club, demonstrate carving and sell at Franklin Street Bazaron Saturday either June 22 or 29. Kathy reported that they would set a tent and tables up for us 9 to 12 or 1

Show and Tell:

Doug Egerton showed his study stick with an owl on top and his woodburning.

Kathy Vonderahe showed her santa.

Steve Eli showed his clay santa.

Robin Meyer showed her wood burned keyrings and christmas ornaments.

Janie Hall showed her macaw, bunny with tattoo carrot, cowboy, cowgirl, and flower.

Melba Winkleman showed the picture of a barn that Steve Eli made for her.

Half Pot:

Half-Pot was won and given to Alan Bailey; who gave some back to club.

Adjournment:

Steve Eli made a motion to to adjourn and seconded by Kevin Jones. Motion approved. Meeting adjourned.
