MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

June 11, 2024 4 H Center

Call to Order:

Meeting was called to order at 6:02 P.M. by President Jack Winkleman. We welcomed guest Randy Greenwell to the club.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Motion to approve the May meeting was made by Doug Egerton and seconded by Ben Meyer. Motion carried. Minutes approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer Roy Kline gave his report. Motion was made by Kathy Vonderahe and seconded by Jon Gunnels. Motion carried. Treasurer's report approved.

Library Committee:

Nothing new to report in the library.

Show Committee:

Show Person Jon Gunnels talked about the show. The show will be in the Exposition Hall this year. We will be having demos during the show, so when a member is away from a table we will need volunteer's to man their table. The show will be October 26 and 27, 2024 from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M.

Old Business:

1). The bark carving seminar Erv setup with instructor Marvin Daniels has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2024 starting at 9:00 A.M. The location was at Washington Ave Church of Christ 4001 Washington Ave. Across the street from St. Mary's / St. Vincent, Ascension hospital. We had 7 carvers signed up for a fun day.

2). Mallet Magazines are available first come first serve on the sales table.

3). Reminder- Kathy has a crew lined up to carve, sell, and promote the club at the Franklin Street Bazar on Saturday June 22, 2024 from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M.

4). Reminder: 1). Sales/trade table. A place to sell. trade. or give away tools, books, etc. you are no longer using.

New Business:

Jim Hart called and may have wood for us to purchase. More information to come.

Seminars:

Upcoming mini seminars include: Tonight June- Jack Carving a Celtic Heart Cross. Focusing on wood grain and carving direction. Based on Tutorial that can be found on the club web page. Please take time to look at the tutorial. August-Jan offering a man in the moon carving mini seminar.

Show and Tell:

Frank Wildeman showed his birds on a tree limb, and other items.

Doug Egerton showed his two santa faces, spirit and frog on a stick.

Kathy Vonderahe showed her santa face and Rich Wetherbees santa.

Roy Kline showed his Rich Wetherbees guy with a gas pump and a dunce child holding books on a stool.

Dan Alldredge showed his bark carvings.

Marvin Daniels showed his bark carvings and santa roughout.

Half Pot:

Half-Pot was won and given to Robin Meyer.

Adjournment:

Dan Alldredge made a motion to adjourn and was seconded by Allan Johnson. Motion approved. Meeting adjourned.

The next meeting is Tuesday, July 9, 2024
